Thrilled to be heading back to my favorite state! Praying for a somewhat relaxing day of travel. This jacket (affectionately named the thunderbird) is probably one of my favorite items of clothing ever, nothing wrong with being a tiny bit over the top sometimes :)

Yesterday I had a lunch date with the roomie involving some poutine, some half naked Zac Efron (The Lucky One was so good) and a little stop at H&M. I'm really into their paisley stuff right now but I can't get behind the prices considering the quality. Once you go thrifting you never go back!

Sunshine Does it Better

In one of my many moments of intense procrastination I daydreamed about all of the things I'm looking forward to this summer. I'm planning to make time for lots of arts and crafts in addition to all around laziness! I'm sure the little sis and I will make our usual "sister list" when I get home too :)

First Day of Summer... Plus Snow?

So apparently Eastern Canada isn't aware that its (my) summer... This morning I awoke to little white fluffy things falling from the sky! Thank goodness none of it stuck. In other urgent news...

I JUST FINISHED EXAMS!!! {and it feels sooo GOOD!}

This semester was rough and I'm extremely relieved its over. Stay tuned for a post of my favorite summertime things, care of my procrastination over the past few days. Here's to a wonderful summer 2012 :)

I'm finishing up my exams tomorrow and will be cramming as much immunology into my brain as possible until then. I'm a little burnt out and so ready to recharge over the summer. I can't wait to get back to the south on monday and enjoy a little sunshine. As soon as we finish the exam B and I are heading to see the lucky one. I may or may not have a huge Zac Efron thing...I mean, have you seen him lately!? I also may or may not have "borrowed" one of the movie posters from the campus bar (odd target audience I know) and hung it in my room. Cheesy? Yes. Just what I need right now? Most definitely.

I managed to sew a lining and a zipper into this (a big step for my non existent sewing skills). Its a little on the floppy side but not too bad when you're toting around knick-knacks galore like me!

When I saw this suit my heart sank because I know that these babies fly off the shelves and neither Canada nor the US has an online store (and because lets face it, I get overly emotional about good deals). First world problems indeed. Sure, at 5 (7 CDN) dollars a piece it may not be a going-to-last-forever-and-ever item, but man if I could get my hands on one of their cheap suits I would!

A shout out to my amazing little sister who has a big ballet performance downtown today! Words cannot explain how proud I am of her hard work and dedication. Only 8 more days until we get to binge on Say Yes to the Dress re-runs, have lunch dates, make crafts and go on bike rides. Good luck today little J, I'll be cheering you on from here :)

As if that's not enough missing out for one day, my not so little brother has his senior prom tonight! I am becoming more and more impressed with the little gentleman he is becoming and I CANT BELIEVE he's going to be an adult so soon. Oh and he pretty much asked his date to the dance in the cutest way ever, from what I understand there was a stuffed polar bear, an ice chest, and "how much does a polar bear weigh... enough to break the ice" involved. Adorable. Its starting to hit me how much I'm going to miss him when he goes off to school next year!

Little White Moccasins

I'm pretty ecstatic to finally be able to wear my white moccasins, which were an awesome present :) They are almost identical to an old pair that met their misfortune backpacking in Colorado (I know what you're thinking and yes I was THAT person who brought white leather shoes on a wilderness experience). These bad boys will be staying bright and shiny for as longgg as possible that's for sure!

One of the (only) nice things about studying for exams or starting a new semester is adorable school supplies. I definitely couldn't function without some special post its and highlighters to soothe my mild OCD tendencies (and lets face it... procrastinate). Countdown to summer 10 days!!!

The Impossible

Lately I'm trying to remember that I need to give my best effort and let go of the rest. I struggle with this concept everyday, but as a few wise people recently reminded me, we're all only human.  We can't expect not to fail but that doesn't mean its okay to accept defeat either. When we fall we should be humbled by the experience but we shouldn't lose momentum. Letting stress, hindsight, and what-if's take over isn't an option. Just because something seems impossible doesn't mean you get to throw in the towel, rather it means you need to get as close to making it possible as you can.

Bake Sale

I have a huge soft spot for mini eggs so when I saw bird's nest style cupcakes all over pinterest I couldn't resist attempting some. With the help of T and H's lovely kitchen (y'all I envy your granite countertops an unhealthy amount) we spent a few hours concocting some cupcakes and cookies for the SAMA bake sale. We used toasted coconut and free-handed some chocolate squiggles onto parchment paper and let them set in the freezer. The way I see it, just because I can't be home this weekend doesn't mean I don't get to indulge in copious amounts of sweets! Wishing everyone a beautiful and blessed Easter :)

To me what makes our friendship so awesome is that I have infinite respect for you. I'm proud to be bff with someone so intelligent, caring, accepting, sensible, gracious, funny, and loyal. You definitely make me a better person to be around and I'd probably be more crazy (if possible) without you ;) I am so thankful that you happen to be a stellar listener and that you've listened to me vent all of these years (p.s. we're getting OLD). I can't wait to live in the same country once again so we can have more frequent adventures :) I miss our sunburning annually, watching unhealthy amounts of tv, lunch at la mad's, making crafts and the related hobby lobby excursions, making little sis jealous (lol christmas gifts), attempting pancakes, mini scrapbooks, pop tarts, american government, outer space, "Mc Breakfast", and laughing until I'm lightheaded. Here's to many more years of making the best of memories.

Blackwatch

I definitely I let out an embarrasing squeal and said something along the lines of: "mum mummy mom mum mum mother come here" when I found this blazer. It was almost 75% off and all alone on the J Crew sale rack, as you can see I couldn't resist bringing it home. It has definitely gotten its fair share of wear, first under puffy jacket and now on its own or with puffy vest. Here there hasn't been really warm spring weather consistently yet (lame) but on the plus/minus side, it is more likely to keep me inside the library.

Fully Alert

My pastor mentioned this in one of his sermons a few months ago. Lately I think I definitely could stand to be more alert in my day to day life. To me, alert means thinking of the big picture rather than sweating the small stuff, keeping track of long term goals, and staying in touch with what I'm passionate about. If I were fully alert I would be prepared to over-think less and DO more. This inspires me to stay positive and grateful over the next few weeks of impending doom exams.
