I rang in the big 21 last week and had an ahhmazing day. A little bit of business, a little shopping, sushi for dinner, a few adult beverages, a few crave cupcakes and a few glasses of milk to accompany them ;) I must say there was a definite satisfaction involved with sliding that little drivers licence out of my wallet and presenting it to our waitress. I can't wait to celebrate with my besties in a few weeks!

P.S. Order the vanilla cupcakes from Crave, the red velvet was a flop in my opinion!

Fried Oreos

We all had a blast at the Calgary Stampede's 100th year. There was no shortage of daisy dukes and cowboy boots, fried confections, nausea inducing rides, cute baby animals and fireworks. We saw the chuckwagon races too which were really neat! Cowboys definitely know how to have a good time, not to mention the weather was GORGEOUS. I highly recommend visiting Calgary during stampede time, you won't regret it!

Making Me Smile

1. I had an amazing birthday! I will never outgrow being excited about birthdays (sorry family and friends :p)
2. Text from little sis: "How do I do this spegettios thing? (sorry I dont know how to spell spegettios)" in response to the fact that I wrote her a note explaining to place the prepped bowl in the microwave and to remove the saran wrap carefully. Gotta love it. 
3. This little number makes me happy. JCrew please stop taunting my budget!
4. I would love to throw or attend a party like this one please!
5. Sipping tea while its raining (and not too humid) never gets old :)

A New 8x8

I had the silhouette left over from another project so I looked for a way to use it up. (For anyone as visually picky as myself I totally ripped her nose, oops!) Throw on a coat of pink paint and voila a scrapbook is born!

I'm obv a little tardy to the party (reference anyone?) with this being for the whole year of 2012 but I'll have fun playing catch up the rest of the summer :)

Scrapbooking is one of those things I feel I need to make more time for, it ends up being so relaxing and I love that I'm going to have them for years and years. Blogging and pinterest are great, but for me looking at a real magazine or scrapbook page beats clicking around any day!

Derby Style

A few from our trip to the Cenovus Derby at Spruce Meadows in Calgary. There was an homage to the Queen, military museum, and delicious fresh baked potato chips! I really enjoyed how quiet the sport is, the only noises really were the "ooh's and ahh's" following the jumps. Definitely gave me lots of equestrian themed day dreams (riding boots and ralph lauren please!) This would be an adorable date idea in my opinion ;)

I Made a Bangle

I saw a bangle similar on Pinterest and thought I'd give it a whirl. I'm pretty sure the bangle was only $1 at Michael's and I always have a ton of embroidery floss on hand (which dates back to my friendship bracelet days haha). I hot glued a strand and then tightly wrapped it around the bangle until the next color. My tip would be to keep the strands in neat little bundles so you can easily pass them through the bracelet.

You could probably make it really pretty inside by skipping the hot glue, but I was in the mood for something fast (slash I'm a lazy crafter sometimes:p) It turned out to be a little bit of a statement piece because of the size, and I can't wait to find something to wear it with :)

Stop and Smell the Flowers

I couldn't get enough of how bright and cheery everyone's gardens were up north (Alberta if  you're particular). I think we might take the warm flower friendly weather for granted a little bit down here! I put up just a few of my many favorites :)

Here's a few things I have the gimmes for this birthday season (although I'd much rather the AC in my car magically fix itself for my present!)

1. One of these yoga mats (so spendy, I'm much more into the reasonably priced one from them)
2. So unnecessary but so delicious, sour patch kids berries are a must.
3. I would love to get my hands on a project life kit, the ones I've seen in progress (here and here) look amazing
4. I've been craving a monogram necklace for a while, a local boutique has the cutest ones
5. Excited for this book to come out!!
6. I usually wear perfume once in a blue moon, but I could totally picture wearing this fragrance every day!

Jammin With the Fam

 

Backyard-to-golfcourse stealthy golf, grass between my toes, yummy pie, strawberry beer, and trampoline fun :) Going to miss the broski as he's already off to get ready for university! It was so nice to see some of my extended family although I'm going to need another trip very soon to catch the rest of them! I had such a care free vacation I'm a little sad to be back to reality. Hoping I snap back into the whole "studying" thing... eew.

Baby Got Back

What's more fun than a dress that's business in the front and party in the back?? I think the first one screams Joan Holloway (slash Harris if we're being technical here lol), if only I could stumble across a dress like one of these in thriftland!
