Just Because

A little Katy Perry never hurt anyone;) Me and the little sis jam out whenever we can and yes, the movie was fabulous. Any die hard fans out there? I must admit I was a bit of a kp hater for a while there!

Check out this adorable and loosely related video too, fast forward to 3:20 for my favorite part.

DIY Fridge Magnets

I whipped up some quick magnets for my bestie's new apartment. These are one of my favorite foolproof crafts, back in the day I used them to decorate my locker. I found this roll of laminating sticky stuff a few years ago at walmart and it has been super useful ever since! Just sandwich something between two layers and you're good to go!

Happy crafting!

A Shout Out

In exchange for me not being able to see this lovely lady on her birthday I am offering a bloggy greeting, Love you and miss you tons B!

My question for y'all: what's the most creative way you've ever wished someone a happy birthday? I'm still in need of some inspiration :)

Living in a Hipster Paradise

Coffee dates with best friends are the best! For the record the third amigo is missing in action in these photos, although he did also look very snazzy also ;)

Best Week(end) Ever!

lets play spot the photo bomber in the blurry photo

Does anyone else really miss the Vh1 show Best Week Ever? I was obsessed. Without further ado, my weekend getaway in list format:
  1. Chicken nuggets abbreviated = nug nugs
  2. "K good night. Wait, i can't find my cat mask" - text from my little sis
  3.  Running into my bff from middle school = just as much fun as I had back in the day
  4.  Seeing your old stomping grounds can lead you to believe you are __ years old again
  5.  Hobby Lobby will never cease to entertain me
  6.  You do indeed require a microwave to make hot pockets if you intend to eat them within the next century
  7.  Dressing like sailor moon can be okay. sometimes.
  8.  Krafts, Korks, Kanvas and Kardashians (see what I did there? :p )
  9. Coffee dates and eating ice cream on the floor of unfurnished apartment dates are equally hip
  10. Puppies are endless entertainment, especially when you make up words to go along with their movements (example: "hay gurl hay")
  11. Sleepovers have no age limit
  12. Will Ferrell movies rock. If you do not agree with this statement please vacate the blog premises immediately.
And the clear winner went down like so:
Rando guy: "What sorority are you in?" whilst creepily placing his hand on my back
Me: Pahahaha that's not my style
Rando guy: "You're too beautiful not to be in a sorority" again with the touchy part despite my blatantly obvious curve-my-spine-awkwardly-to-avoid-him posture.

On Vaycay

diy framed silk scarf art source
I'm having an amazing girls weekend with my very best friend :) I can't wait to share my thrifted and vintage finds as well as some pretty entertaining pick up lines I was lucky enough to experience. Oh and I am free of the MCAT (at least until the scores come back right??) I don't think I've ever been so relieved!

Wishing you the very best of weekends! xo

Favorites

Can't wait for the new album! source
  1. This post has me lusting after something pixelated! Those ballet flats are so whimsical :)
  2. Can't get enough of the Office, and this tumblr that I stumbled across the other day. Office fanatics what are your favorite blogs/ tumblrs / etc??
  3. I am SO READY for New Girl to come back into my life. I had almost forgotten about it (terrible I know) but am definitely longing to have Schmidt jokes to laugh at once again!
  4. My bestie got her wisdom teeth out and was amazing enough to post a 2 minute long video of herself chatting it up post surgery, gauze in mouth, just for me :) Entertaining and awesome are understatements here folks.
  5. Obsessing over this blog lately, I really want the book too!
  6. My little sister's use of the word "gigant-o-plex" gets me every time.
  7. Dreams by Fleetwood Mac also gets me every time. Beware if you happen to be in the car with me when it comes on, simply singing along wouldn't be doing it justice!

Hazy Days of Summer

So the last two shots are not my novice attempts at photo editing, but rather the lovely effects of the humidity on my lens. It turned out pretty neat minus the eew factor that its actually that hot and humid outside!

I'm getting down to business (Mulan song anyone??) in prep for my MCAT next week (just writing it makes me uber nervous, yikes!) and there hasn't been much time for anything else. I am beyond excited for a little girls weekend in Louisiana with my best friend to celebrate. Stay tuned for overly excited blogging following that milestone ;)

I hope that you are having a wonderful August so far! Let me know how you and yours are planning to enjoy the last few weeks of summery goodness?

Do You Hoodoo?

the "hoodoos"

abandoned coal mine

the broseph

We checked out the "Hoodoos" and abandoned coal mine in Drumheller, AB last month on our family vaycay. If you're headed anywhere in rural Alberta I would bring some serious bug spray. We lasted for about five minutes at one location before literally running back to the car and heading straight to the local Walmart to stock up on the "Off". I discovered that I am indeed allergic to mosquito bites, and sported a lovely pink welt on my face for a bit of the day. Pests aside, we ended up having a great time making some pretty priceless memories as a fam :)

Ramble On

source
  1. Is it weird that I still have the urge to purchase teen vogue whenever I see it in the grocery store? Mind you we did spend many years of my awkward tween through teen phase together lol.
  2. Cliche alert: I am kind of in love with the Olympics. This is the first year I've really appreciated the games and I can't get enough of the fearless men and women who compete. It is fueling me to stop griping and face my current challenges head on. Missy Franklin is pretty much my hero :)
  3. If I could eat iced cream for every meal I would in a heartbeat. I mix half cookies and cream with half chocolate chip cookie dough for a match made in heaven.
  4. I'm feeling really excited for next year, even with the impending stress of exams, applications and what not I can't help but feel a little bit of joy. I think that I'd rather have somewhat of an unknown future over a strict "5 year plan" any day. Turning anxiety and stress into excitement and positive energy can really turn your world upside down.
