Quotepost (one word)

zomg its snowing! astro photo source
  1. We usually do 50 reps. And by we I mean me and jillian (referring to jillian michaels)" - helene
  2. over text on my mom's phone "Hi!!!!!!!!!"  "Hi J"  "How'd you know it was me?" "Bc mom doesn't use exclamation points duh" "Oh ok u got me."
  3. In an operatic voice "Shine bright like a diamond" -will
  4. "So I have this new hobby, I make anonymous online dating accounts to find people I know and read about their dating lives and get a good laugh. People really put themselves out there." - anonymous
  5. Lecture slide titled 'zoMG SHARKS!!!!111' comes up " I wrote that on the train while preparing these slides and I meant to change it... I was just having a little fun" - my stats prof
  6. Flashes full glass of wine and pasta dinner in front of webcam on skype while I'm in the library and she's clearly not,  "I'm gonna wine and dine you" "ugh jealous since when do you even drink wine?"  "Its actually just juice" - best fran
  7. Me pointing to jumbo cookies in the depanneur "oatmeal cookies are really popular lately" "what do you mean, they've only been around since like the 1700's" - helene
  8. "Well if a girl sends you a text with "k" instead of "kk" it means she's mad at you but if a guy just says "k" its okay." - girl in my class
  9. "Hey you look cute" - me, at 7 pm on a weekday "I'm kinda drunk" - my roomie
All obnoxiousness aside, I'm hoping that these quotes will all be a riot to look back on a few years from now. The other day I was talking to my friend of like 7 years (whoa there) and she quoted something absurd I said years ago because she had it jotted down. I love blogging for its archival qualities, especially now that I'm starting to get all sentimental about graduating.
What is your favorite way to savor memories through blogging? Do you like to write down funny things people say?

Have a warm, cozy, and relaxing weekend and good luck to those of you studying for finals (we can do it!) :)

Interiors and Randoms

Interiors, one // two // three // four pretty unrelated to the following list but awesome nonetheless

Things I like lately
  1. Five Guys Hamburgers et Frites and their new convenient location (late night "snack" HEAVEN)
  2. Designing my family's Christmas card >> studying
  3. Having those priceless moments when everyone goes around the table and says what they're thankful for. :)
  4. Watching snow fall outside the window without any of it actually covering the ground. All of the fun and none of the mess!
  5. Ferrero rocher boxes (cough danielle cough). Yum.
  6. The Mindy Project. Definitely worth picking up a new show for.
  7. Dare I say it, I think I might like long nails now? After shedding my crazy talons my stubby boy nails just aren't doing it for me anymore.
  8. Lindt white chocolate in jumbo size. Lets just say that the half life of that huge bar of chocolate was not very long.
  9. The fact that I'll be finished with 2 of 5 of this semester's courses by tomorrow!
  10. Nothing beats receiving a handwritten letter (in french!) from your far away best friend! And still being able to read most of it doesn't hurt either ;)
What's making your world go round?

advent calendar // chalkboard tree // door decor // reindeer tape // paper trees // snowfall // snow globes

A few things I've had my eye on since like Nov 1 if we're being honest here ;)

What kinds of Christmas decor are you craving now that  American Thanksgiving is over and you're fully allowed to indulge?

Insta-Gems and Weekend Recap

follow the instagram action over here @kels_ea
Back when there were still days without puffy jackets I took these:

row 1 // thrifted red blazer, old montreal, no filter camera fun
row 2 // campus architecture, tree that looked like bleeding hearts, adorable latte
row 3 // blanket of leaves, cutest darn window, being scholar-ish
row 4 // trivia night sangria, creeping vine in ombre, ecoliers
row 5 // little wild flowers / weeds, cathedral, tiny streets with amazing architecture

Apparently I like to torture myself by looking at pictures of summer / warm fall when it starts to hit the nasty below zero numbers. Luckily I had a ridiculously fun weekend involving vodka soaked gummy worms (they were fabulous), catching up with old friends, making new friends, making plans, crocheting, holiday drinks at starbs, watching bride shows (darn you TLC), eating chocolate (lindt lindor anyone??), talking about boys (because I've definitely got so much free time for that), and even squeezing in some gym time (by which I mean reading us weekly while flailing on the elliptical for a few mins just like this). How was your weekend? Anything wild go down?

Quintessential Quote Post

via etsy my response to having to study for the next month
  1. "I've learned to cook eggs every way except for poached" "Oh so you cook now" "No. I only cook eggs" - the broski
  2. Me: " I think I have a good Christmas gift for you, I just need you to tell me some colors you like." The little sis: "Dark green, light green, yellow green and lime green"
  3. "I won't be afraid that I've scared you about your final all weekend if you promise you won't be scared about your final all weekend" - (objectively good looking) stats prof to the class
  4. I attempt to pick up one box of sour patch kids but accidentally knock one onto the ground too "Well of course I'll take two!" roommate laughs followed by "are you serious?"
  5. "Haha I'm having PMS just like jess and winston" - anonymous (Jess and Winston are New Girl characters, go watch!)
What's the best quote you've heard lately?

Back in Black

  1. piperlime boots
  2. marc by marc jacobs necklace
  3. topshop scuba shift
  4. bloom dress
  5. vince camuto bag
  6. ferragamo bag
  7. rachel pally dress
  8. tory burch dress
Although I am most definitely a color addict, I can't help but feel extra snazzy and slightly mysterious adorned in an all black outfit. Do you ever dress in monochrome or do you prefer a splash of color?

Faux Fur Baby

hat h&m // fur baby h&m // shirt target // jeans gap // boots aldo // necklace f21

quick! strike a pose!

It most certainly feels like winter around these parts! I have already broken out this furry bad boy and the even more intimidating big puffy coat (which I definitely have a love hate relationship with). The furry contraption is a few sizes too big (read: arms are too long) so I feel like a bit of a "pimp" when I wear it, but it was 50% off a few years back and I've gotten a ton of use out of it! A word on the hat too: I'm amazed I found one that not only fits my noggin but is a tad too big. The ultimate test would be to see if it fits my mom's head, because that thing is large and in charge (love ya mom!).

In other news, Christmas fanaticism is in full swing, I even started up a secret pinterest board to keep track of my gift ideas and embarrassingly large personal wishlist. I'm feeling really optimistic these days which is never a bad thing! I got 2 "job" offers last week, and I start one this week (doesn't that always just feel so good?), I've been doing pretty well with my running plan, and I'm not feeling overwhelmed by school just yet (I only give that a week or so hah).

I definitely have to give my little sister a shout out because this girl is my hero. I wouldn't have thought it possible for a 20 something to look up to a middle school-er, but alas I am so inspired by this little lady! Her determination in her ballet and school work is unparalleled, and I'm so incredibly proud to call her my sister. She is becoming one of those people you know is going to do great things because they have the perfect balance between stubborn resolve and natural talent. I absolutely can't wait to see her various Nutcracker performances and to hang out with my best-sister-friend. End sappy rant.

What are you wearing to keep warm? Do you feel extra motivated at this time of year or extra sappy and sentimental?

Remember Remember

Just wanted to voice my appreciation for all of the veterans in both of my countries with Remembrance Day today and Veterans Day tomorrow. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for all that you have done and continue to do for your countries, and thank you to all of those who support our veterans.

Greater love has no one than this: to lay down
one’s life for one’s friends.

Lazy Links

gems - the word I use lately to describe everything from people to TV channels
Here's some of what I've been creeping on the inter-webs lately:
  1. Wilde Asher, from Sophie of Her Library Adventures, is now open! Check out the awesome blog too.
  2. A new to me blog, Happily Grey and some validation for my puffy vest post because she is seriously rocking some down filled goodness.
  3. Plaid is it this holiday season: one, two, three, four.
  4. A heart warming post from Smile and Wave.
  5. I really really wish I could celebrate American Thanksgiving at home this year just so I could make some flower arrangements like these
  6. A thought provoking post from Elizabeth. Sometimes I wish I could go back to a simpler decade too. Technology can be creepy!
  7. Sequins might just be creeping into my good books. Like this for example.
  8. I want to work on a scarf just like this one. I just need to find the perfect yarn!
  9. Don't forget to smile today and hug your furbabies tight;)
  10. This home line from target is rad. I really like this rug and this chair
Do you find yourself spending more time online when the weather becomes less than opportune? Any great finds you've stumbled across recently? Check out my pinterest and let me know yours!

Rambles on a Thursday

from my instagram @kels_ea
  1. Awkward = playing umbrella bumper cars during rush hour downtown
  2. Scary = woman leaving her baby in stroller at one end of a large starbucks for roughly 10 minutes while she orders a drink on the other end
  3. Fun fact= I drink decaf coffee, in the middle of the day, because that's how much caffeine affects me, but I still like the taste / smell / overall effect. Weird? Just a tad.
  4. Secret pinterest boards? Now girls can really plan their entire wedding decades in advance without shame haha (no I am not one of these girls).
  5. I secretly wish Lana Del Rey would do an old school Christmas album. That voice gets me every time.

Au Revoir Fall Part Deux

jcrew schoolboy blazer // dress h&m // flats lucky brand // purse longchamp (on sale, holla!)
More pictures of back when it was warm to compensate for the fact that fluffy white stuff came out of the sky yesterday and it was too cold to function (reference anyone?). In other news I started listening to Christmas music... already... and I've been crocheting like wild too. Daydreams consisting of cozy knits, gift wrap, velvet, tartan, and all things sparkly are becoming the norm around these parts. I'm going all out with the festivities this year, December 24th just you wait!

Are you getting pumped for Christmas or trying to stay conventional (aka waiting until Thanksgiving is actually over)?

Rosy Romance

A little romance never hurt anyone right? I'm sticking to the kind found in clothes and accessories for the time being (married to my textbooks) but someone should definitely wear one of these on a date so that I can live vicariously through you ;)

Have you ever seen Love Story? I've been meaning to re-watch it, the clothes are overwhelmingly beautiful!

Au Revoir Fall

photos taken by the lovely jocelynne
We were lucky enough to soak up some of fall's last rays of sunshine the other weekend, and I'm so glad we did because its definitely full on almost winter up here now. I'm really loving my English course, we're doing american lit from 1990 to 2010 and currently on Nicole Krauss's The History of Love. Anyone read it? I'm looking for suggestions of books to devour over the Christmas break too!

Happy weekend :)

Happy After-Ween

I know what you're thinking, this chick didn't even have an obligatory happy halloween post. But alas, I foresaw that I should inform you all to GO AND BUY CHEAP CANDY which seemed more important based on my insatiable sweet tooth. Stock up for the apocalypse, save it for Christmas stockings (a la the show extreme cheapskates... I'm kidding) or use it during a movie night in a that ole purse of yours (so guilty every time).

Happy cavity creating!
